Handwritten drafts and notes by Schlöndorff on mise-en-scène of the changing room secene with David Bennent (Oskar) and Katharina Thalbach (Maria). By means of an artful framing in combination with the precisely in time balanced rerecordings, he achieves to create a certain tension between the two characters, without Katharina Thalbach being fully exposed to the camera. //
