Franz Seitz’ and Volker Schlöndorff’s suggestions for the casting. The idea, that Oskar should be played by two actors, is cancelled. For the role of Alfred Matzerath were Götz George, Albert Finney, Ian Holm and Gérard Depardieu among others under discussion. For the role of the Gauleiter Löbsack was Klaus Kinski the preferred candidate. //
